Genome reveals panda's carnivorous side

Genome reveals panda's carnivorous side

The Beauty of Genetics at work. A deep look into a species genetic sequence can unveil secrets and new information about the history of all living things.

Take a look at the above article about the Panda's genome. It's rather very interesting! Panda's eat bamboo - we all know that! But at some point in their evolution, panda's were carnivorous! Wow!

Heh - that's why I love biology - you never know what you'll discover. You ask one question, and in trying to answer it you are bombarded with another ten, all of which are more interesting than the original one!

Woohoo!

And so it came to pass on a rainy day in Manchester I had to give a talk and be interrogated by two people for about three hours.

After four years, I was going to sit down with two examiners and defend my PhD thesis.

The day started like any other. The day started at 7am when I woke up. I went to the office to have a chat with my Little Boss, and get ready and acclimatized for the talk later on in the day. Around 11am I gave my talk, summarizing in about half hour my work over the past four years. Then I had a bite to eat and then I went in to the Conference room and sat there for three hours while my two examiners took turns to grill me and find holes in my research.

However, rejoice! After three hours (that passed like they where ten minutes to be honest) I was told that I am now a Doctor of Philosophy in Cancer and Imaging sciences!!! Woohoo!

Time to celebrate and dance naked in the streets of Wherever!!
